Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications

Integration with Oracle Cloud Applications

FXLoader Cloud Service fully automates the load of FX rates into your Oracle Cloud Applications, for converting foreign currency transactions.

Oracle Cloud Applications are SaaS applications built on Oracle Fusion and include Oracle Sales Cloud and Oracle Financials Cloud (part of Oracle ERP Cloud). FXLoader Cloud Service is a back end application running on Oracle’s Platform as a Service (PaaS). A web service is invoked to pull the latest rates from the chosen source, process cross rates and load them via another web service into your Oracle Cloud Applications.

FXLoader is the top-rated application on the Oracle Cloud Marketplace, and was first Oracle Financials Cloud service to be accepted and listed.

Currency Rates in Oracle Cloud Applications

Oracle Cloud Applications (Oracle ERP Cloud and Oracle Sales Cloud) provide extensive multi-currency functionality. Oracle converts all transactions in foreign currency to your functional currency using a defined exchange rate – supplier and customer invoices and payments, GL journals, purchase orders, sales orders, etc. These exchange rates are known as daily rates in Oracle and are shared across all applications.

The Challenge

Oracle provides a spreadsheet to manually enter and load daily rates, but this can be time consuming and prone to error as with any manual process. The impact on the business can be significant:

If rates are not entered, foreign currency transactions cannot be processed for that date

If rates are entered incorrectly, your account balances will be wrong but the problem may not become evident until weeks or months later.

In addition, with the Oracle Cloud Applications, you don’t get access to the back-end of the application or database in order to build an interface.

The FXLoader Solution

FXLoader provides a fully automated interface to load rates from leading sources, directly into Oracle ERP Cloud and Oracle Sales Cloud. Set it up to run on a schedule you choose and it will load rates in the background – no user action or checking is required.

FXLoader Cloud Service is a separate cloud application, built on Oracle’s Platform as a Service (PaaS). Configuration is set up in this application; a scheduled process then gets rates from your chosen source(s), processes them according to your configuration, and loads them into your Oracle ERP Cloud/Oracle Sales Cloud application.

Oracle Fusion Applications – on Premise or Private Cloud

If you are running Oracle Fusion Applications on premise, or in a private cloud environment, FXLoader Cloud Service can still load currency rates.

The web service used to populate the rates is available from Fusion Release 8 onwards. Enabling the use of FXLoader in the same way as those running Oracle’s cloud offerings.
